In a surprise move set to shock many, Caitlin Stasey has decided to call it quits and leave Ramsay Street behind, choosing to return to school and complete year 12.

After a three year commitment on Neighbours, Caitlin is ready to be a “normal” teenager again and has decided to leave the residents of Ramsay Street and return to school and finish her High School exams.

“There are so many people that I am going to miss from the cast and crew, I’ve had a great time, but I know in this case I’ve got to put my education first,” she said in an interview with Melbourne newspaper The Herald Sun.

“I can’t wait to go out and catch up with my friends whenever I want to,” she said.

Caitlin is currently doing distance education to complete year 12 over two years. She has decided to concentrate on this full time.

The absence of Rachel Kinski, who first came to the set of Neighbours as the middle child in the Kinski clan, will be strongly felt in the heart of Ramsay Street. Her departure is sure to spell disaster for one character in particular who has grown fond of Rachel of late, Ty Harper. How will he cope without his leading lady?

She has been a firm favourite amongst Neighbours’ fans and the news of her departure will come as a shock to many.

The Neighbours' team will leave the door open for Caitlin in case she decides to return to Ramsay Street.  Caitlin will finish filming in November and will be on air until the end of March 2009.
