Neighbours is fast becoming a gateway for musicians to get some key international exposure, with music acts from all over the world flying in to perform at the hip and groovy ‘Charlie’s Bar’. Like Korean Indie band The Black Skirts who made a special trip to Australia to make a guest appearance.

"We needed a band for a scene with our Korean character, Sunny Lee (played by Hany Lee) and The Black Skirts saw it as a great opportunity for international exposure, so organised flights and visas straight away,” said Neighbours Producer Neal Kingston.

The group arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday and went straight to the Nunawading studio to film their scenes. Margot Robbie, Ashleigh Brewer and Hany Lee were the band’s back-up singers.

Aussie singer Ben Lee also flew in from Los Angeles to appear on the set of Ramsay St last week with singer Cassie Davis for a scene in Charlie’s Bar. And Lily Allen flew in from London a few months back.

This week, local act Jacob Butler Project filmed their debut single Coma at Charlie’s Bar.

“I have always been a massive Neighbours’ fan, so the opportunity to play at Charlie’s Bar was pretty cool,” said the former Australian Idol finalist Butler.
