After six months of playing Declan, Erin has decided to move on with his acting career, along with his on-screen mum Jane Hall. And with their departure the adorable little baby India will also be leaving the screen. Matt Werkmeister has also decided to leave the safety of the Street after five and a half brilliant years on the show.
"Jane is among this industry’s most accomplished actors and it has been a privilege working with her, and Matt and Erin have also proven themselves fine performers and I know there will be exciting things ahead for them both," Neighbours Executive Producer Susan Bower said.
This is sad news, considering Margot Robbie and Carla Bonner's decision to leave the show this year. However, while one door closes, another opens and Neighbours will continue to pack a punh with it's star-studded cast, with newcomers Gemma Pranita and Mark Brennan joining the Street soon. Gemma Pranita will play Jade Mitchell starting on air in December and Mark will play Scott McGregor, our new resident 'hot' cop!
Gemma was in Russia researching a dramatist Anton Chekhov when she got the call from her agent to audition for the role of Jade Mitchell on Neighbours. Born in Thailand, the twenty-four year old beauty moved with her Thai father and English mother to Australia when she was 12. She graduated from WAPPA (Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts) in 2009 and was quickly recruited by Bell Shakespear Company where she toured for eight months.
Gemma will play Jade Mitchell, Sonya Mitchell's younger sister. Her unexpected arrival on the Street sends Sonya into a panick, just as she and Toadie are finally settling down as a couple. Does Gemma hold a secret that could change everything for Sonya? So get ready for some exciting storylines to come.
The beautiful Eve Morey, who plays Sonya Mitchell, has been added to the list of regular cast members on Neighbours.
